Saifedean Ammous is the author of The Bitcoin Standard, published in 2018, which examines monetary history and the economic case for Bitcoin. He followed it with The Fiat Standard in 2021 and Principles of Economics in 2023, a textbook in the Austrian school tradition. The Gold Standard explores an alternative economic history of the twentieth century.
Academic background.
He taught economics at the Lebanese American University from 2009 to 2019. He holds a PhD in Sustainable Development from Columbia University, a master’s degree in Development Management from the London School of Economics, and a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the American University of Beirut.
